Management Team

Gerald L. Morgan, Chief Executive Officer and President

Mr. Morgan was appointed President in January 2021. He joined Texas Roadhouse in 1997 and has held a number of positions, including Managing Partner, Market Partner and Regional Market Partner. Mr. Morgan has more than 35 years of restaurant management experience with Texas Roadhouse, Bennigan’s and Burger King.

Doug Thompson, Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Thompson was appointed Chief Operating Officer in August 2018. He joined Texas Roadhouse in 2002 as a Market Partner and was later promoted to Regional Market Partner in 2005 and Vice President of Operations in 2015. Before joining the company, Mr. Thompson was a single and multi-unit operator with both Outback Steakhouse, Inc. and Bennigan’s Restaurants. Mr. Thompson has over 30 years of restaurant industry experience.

S. Chris Jacobsen, Chief Marketing Officer

Mr. Jacobsen was appointed Chief Marketing Officer in February 2016. He joined Texas Roadhouse in January 2003 and has served as Vice President of Marketing since 2011. Prior to joining us, Chris was employed by Papa John's International and Waffle House, Inc. where he held various senior level marketing positions. He has over 20 years of restaurant industry experience.

Tonya Robinson, Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Robinson was appointed Chief Financial Officer in May 2018. She has held the positions of Controller, Director of Financial Reporting and VP of Finance and Investor Relations since joining the company in December 1998. Tonya graduated with an Accounting Degree from St. Mary of the Woods College in 1990 and earned her MBA from the University of Louisville. She has over 20 years of restaurant industry experience.

Christopher Colson, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Mr. Colson was appointed Corporate Secretary in August 2019 and General Counsel in March 2021. He joined Texas Roadhouse in 2005 serving as Senior Counsel and then Associate General Counsel. Mr. Colson became the first full-time member and served as our Executive Director of the Global Development Group from 2009 to 2019. Prior to joining us, Chris worked for Yum! Brands, Inc. from 2000 to 2003 and then worked at Frost Brown Todd LLC serving as outside counsel to us on our initial public offering in 2004. Chris graduated with an Accounting Degree from Bellarmine University in 1999 and earned his Juris Doctor from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in 2003. He has almost 20 years of restaurant industry experience.
